Eight Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens tours compared against the €22 the ticket office charges for both, including two listings whose own inclusions publish the markup they add.
What You Should Know
- The ticket office charges €22 for Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens together on the day, or €25 booked ahead. Hold the listings against that. One here charges €25 for the Boboli Gardens alone, which is the price of both at the gate, and another charges €33 for the palace alone. Two of these tours cost more than the combined ticket while covering half of it.
- Two listings publish their own markup, which is unusual and worth reading. One lists its inclusions as a "timed entrance ticket of 19,00 euro" plus an "agency fee", at €33 all in. The other lists an "admission ticket of 13,00 euros" plus an "agency commission", at €25. So the fees are €14 and €12, and on the gardens that is close to doubling a €13 ticket.
- The single biggest cause of one-star reviews here is not the price, it is the voucher. On some ticket listings you are not sent a ticket but a voucher to exchange in person, and the exchange desk is not at Palazzo Pitti. Guests describe walking back over the Ponte Vecchio to find an office, climbing back uphill in 30 degree heat, missing their time slot, and buying a second ticket at the gate.
- Parts of the Boboli Gardens are a building site, and will be for years. The gallery runs an eight-year restoration programme, Boboli 2030, covering the Amphitheatre, the Camellia Garden, the Neptune and Island basins and more than 300 statues, with the Amphitheatre alone expected to take two to three years. Guests through 2026 describe tarpaulins, fencing and rerouted paths at full price. As of October 6, 2026 the Porcelain Museum is also closed until further notice.
Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens Tours: What You Are Booking
Palazzo Pitti is the Medici grand ducal palace across the Arno, and the Boboli Gardens climb the hill behind it. They are sold together because they are one site: a single combined ticket covers both, and the gardens are the palace's back garden rather than a separate attraction.
That matters because most Pitti Palace tours you can book are not tours at all. Four of the eight here are tickets with a booking fee attached and nobody to meet, and the fees run from €0 to €14 over what the gallery charges. The other four put a licensed guide in front of the Palatine Gallery, where the paintings hang frame to frame in the original ducal arrangement rather than by date, and a guide genuinely changes what you take from it.
What actually decides this booking
- Guide or no guide. The split runs clean here: the guided tours rate 4.58 to 5.00, the ticket products 3.36 to 4.03.
- How you receive the ticket. A ticket sent to your phone and a voucher you collect in person are different products, and the reviews make that very clear.
- Which parts the ticket covers. The complex holds the Palatine Gallery, the Royal Apartments, the Gallery of Modern Art, the Treasury of the Grand Dukes, the Museum of Costume and Fashion, and the gardens. Not every listing covers all of it.
- Whether the gardens are the point. Given the 2026 works, that changes the answer.
For the rest of the city's big-ticket sights, our Uffizi tour guide and Duomo tour comparison run the same arithmetic, and the Florence walking tour guide covers the free and paid walks that pass Pitti without going in. The Boboli hillside is steep and largely unshaded, which our things to do in Florence for seniors guide weighs up, and our Florence in April guide covers the gardens at their best.
FlorencePass: Pitti Palace, Boboli Garden & Palatina Gallery Guided Tour
The only guided tour here with both a strong rating and a healthy review record: 4.84 across 309 reviews, 61 of them in the past year, where every other guided option is either weekends-only or down to two reviews in twelve months. Three hours with a licensed guide, a group capped at 14, earsets once there are four of you, and timed entry to the Palatine Gallery and the gardens included. Subtract the €25 advance combined ticket and the guiding costs about €73, which is the right way to judge it. The Palatine Gallery is the specific reason to take a guide here: the paintings are hung in the original ducal arrangement, frame to frame and floor to ceiling, with no chronology and little labelling, and guests repeatedly say they would have missed most of it alone. Two caveats. It runs in English only. And there is a lot of walking, uphill and on steps, with a lift in the palace but none in the gardens.

ℹ️ Every price, rating, review count, duration, booking limit, language and inclusion above was pulled from the booking platform's partner API on October 6, 2026, and all prices are the per-person from-price in euro. Review health is the count of reviews posted in the previous twelve months, which is why it appears as a column: on this activity it separates the listings more usefully than the star rating does. We excluded three tours for stale reviews, including the highest-rated product of the lot at 4.96, which has had no review in seventeen months. For context on every price, the Gallerie degli Uffizi charges €16 for Palazzo Pitti on the day and €19 in advance, €10 for the Boboli Gardens on the day and €13 in advance, and €22 or €25 for the two combined.
What to Expect at Pitti Palace and the Boboli Gardens
How a guided visit tends to run:
- 0110 min early
The Main Entrance
Guided tours meet at the central entrance on Piazza de' Pitti, under an operator signboard. The ticket listings are different: some deliver to your phone, others require you to collect a voucher from an office elsewhere in the city first.
- 02First 90 min
The Palatine Gallery
The heart of the visit: Raphael, Titian and Rubens hung frame to frame in the original Medici arrangement rather than by date. Dense, barely labelled, and the reason a guide earns their fee here.
- 03Next
The Royal Apartments
The grand ducal state rooms, included on the fuller tickets but not all of them. Worth confirming which galleries your ticket covers before you plan the afternoon around them.
- 04The climb
Into Boboli
Out of the palace and up the terraces, past the amphitheatre toward the Neptune fountain and the Knight's Garden. This is the uphill portion, on gravel and steps.
- 05The top
The View Back Over Florence
The reward for the climb, and the part guests still rate highly even in the renovation reviews. Guides tend to know the quieter vantage points off the main path.

Stay On With Your Ticket
Most guided tours end inside the complex and your ticket remains valid, so the Modern Art gallery, the Treasury and the costume museum are yours at your own pace. One operator's ticket stays valid a full 24 hours.
Palazzo Pitti opens Tuesday to Sunday, 8:15am to 6:30pm, and closes on Mondays, 1 January and 25 December. The Boboli Gardens open daily at 8:15am and close seasonally: 4:30pm in January, February, November and December, 5:30pm in March and October, 6:30pm in spring and early autumn, and 7:10pm from June to August. The ticket office and last admission are an hour before closing at both. One detail catches people out: the gardens close on the first and last Monday of each month, not every Monday like the palace, so the two sites do not share a closing day. Allow two to four hours for both; the gardens alone take an hour and a half if you walk them properly. Hours and closures checked against the Gallerie degli Uffizi on October 6, 2026.
Our take (the gardens are a hill, and nobody mentions it): Boboli is not a flat park. It rises steeply behind the palace in terraces, and the best views are at the top. A guest on our top pick put the caveat plainly: lots of walking, uphill and on steps, and while there is a lift inside the palace there is none on the grounds. If anyone in your party finds hills hard, do the Palatine Gallery properly and treat the gardens as optional, rather than booking a combined ticket you will only half use.
Our take (the works are a programme, not a season): Guests through 2026 describe arriving to find parts of Boboli behind tarpaulins and fencing, lawns closed and paths rerouted, at full price. That is not a passing inconvenience. The gallery runs an eight-year restoration programme called Boboli 2030 across the 33-hectare gardens, covering more than 300 statues plus the Amphitheatre, the Camellia Garden, the Neptune and Island basins and the Prato delle Colonne, with the Amphitheatre work alone expected to run two to three years. Expect some part of the gardens to be behind hoardings on any visit between now and 2030, and expect no discount for it.
Closures we confirmed on October 6, 2026: at Palazzo Pitti, the Room of the Iliad is closed from 30 June to 25 October 2026, the Music Room in the Palatine Gallery is closed, and the mezzanine of the Treasury of the Grand Dukes is closed until further notice. In the gardens, the Porcelain Museum is closed for refurbishment until further notice. The Iliad closure matters most, because the Palatine Gallery is the reason to take a guide here at all. None of this appears on any tour listing we read, and all of it is published on the gallery's own site, so check it again against your own dates.
Best Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens Tours, Ranked
We rank these against the €22 the ticket office charges for both sites on the day, or €25 booked ahead, because that is what every listing here has to beat or justify.
FlorencePass: Pitti Palace, Boboli & Palatina Gallery
€98 for three hours with a licensed guide, capped at 14, with entry to both sites included. Strip out the €25 ticket and the guiding is about €73. At 4.84 across 309 reviews with 61 posted in the past year, it is the only guided option here that is both highly rated and demonstrably still running well. English only, three departures a day, meeting at the main Pitti entrance under a FlorencePass signboard.
Check availabilityCiao Florence Tours: Medici Treasures Small Group
€72 for two hours of guided Palatine Gallery and Boboli, which is €26 less than our pick and includes something none of the others do: a ticket valid 24 hours for the rest of the palace galleries, so you can come back for the Royal Apartments and the Modern Art gallery at your own pace. At 4.76 across 21 reviews it is well regarded but lightly reviewed. The catch is availability: Saturdays and Sundays only, one departure at 08:45.
Check availabilityACCORD Italy: Entry Ticket and eBook
€39 for the complete combined ticket: Palatine Gallery, Royal Apartments, Gallery of Modern Art, Treasury of the Grand Dukes, Museum of Costume and Fashion and the gardens, with an eBook in eight languages instead of a guide. That is €14 over the €25 advance ticket for the widest coverage on this page. At 4.03 across 31 reviews it is the best-rated ticket product here, and the complaints that do appear are about the gardens being under renovation rather than about the booking.
Check availabilityGiulia Bozzi: Palazzo Vecchio, Pitti and Boboli Private Tour
Four hours with a licensed Florence guide covering Palazzo Vecchio as well as Pitti and Boboli, capped at 10, with hotel pickup for centrally located hotels, at €195. It holds a clean 5.00 across 19 reviews. Two things to be clear about before booking. Museum tickets are explicitly excluded, so budget the €25 combined ticket and Palazzo Vecchio entry on top. And only two of those reviews were posted in the past year, so the rating rests on a record that has gone quiet.
Check availabilityMade of Tuscany: Pitti Palace and Boboli Private Tour
€232.50 is the highest price here, for three private hours with reserved entrance tickets included and a choice of eight languages, which makes it the obvious pick if you need German, Japanese, Dutch or Russian. At 4.58 across 40 reviews it is the lowest-rated of the guided options, and like the other private tour it has collected only two reviews in the past twelve months. Eight start times daily gives it the most flexible schedule on the page.
Check availabilityWanderung: Timed Entry Ticket with Audio Guide
€39 for skip-the-line timed entry to both sites with a digital audio guide in four languages, and the deepest review base here at 157. It also holds the lowest rating on the page at 3.37, and the reviews say why: the audio runs through an app that guests repeatedly could not download, with no usable signal on site, commentary out of order against the rooms, and in one case a ticket that would not load at the desk. Download it before you arrive or treat the audio as a bonus you may not get.
Check availabilityCity Florence Tours: Timed Entrance to Palazzo Pitti
€33 for the palace alone, which is €11 more than the gate charges for the palace and the gardens together. The listing is unusually candid about why, stating a €19 ticket plus an agency fee in its own inclusions. At 3.49 across 47 reviews, and the one-stars are consistent: this is a voucher to be exchanged in person, not a ticket, and guests describe being sent away from Pitti to find the office.
Check availabilityCity Florence Tours: Timed Entry to the Boboli Gardens
€25 for the gardens alone, which is exactly what the palace and the gardens cost together booked in advance, and €15 more than walking up and paying €10 at the gate. Its own inclusions state a €13 admission ticket plus an agency commission. At 3.36 it is the lowest-rated product here, carrying the same voucher-collection complaints, and it is the listing most affected by the 2026 renovation, with guests describing tarpaulins and fenced lawns at full price.
Check availabilityThe ranking separates almost entirely on two things: whether a person meets you, and how the ticket reaches your hand. Price barely enters into it, which is why the cheapest listing on the page is also the one we would most readily talk you out of.
Pitti Palace Tickets vs Guided Tours: The Arithmetic
Four ways to get in, and the gaps between them are larger than the listings suggest.
The Number Everything Is Measured Against
The Gallerie degli Uffizi charges €22 for Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens together on the day of entry, or €25 booked in advance. Separately they are €16 and €10 on the day, €19 and €13 ahead. Under-18s of any nationality enter free and EU citizens aged 18 to 25 pay a reduced rate, which is worth checking before you buy any bundle for a family.
Between €0 and €14 of Markup
Four listings. At €39 the ACCORD eBook covers the entire complex, which is a fair €14 for the widest access plus multilingual notes. At €33 and €25 you are paying €11 and €15 over the gate price for half the site. Two of these publish the ticket price and the fee separately in their own inclusions, so the arithmetic is not guesswork.
€47 to €73 for the Guiding
Subtract the €25 ticket and this is what a licensed guide costs for two to three hours. The Palatine Gallery is the strongest argument for paying it anywhere in Florence: the hang is the original ducal one, dense and unlabelled, and it rewards someone explaining it more than a chronological gallery does.
Check What the Price Actually Covers
Both private tours have gone quiet on reviews, with two apiece in the past year. One excludes museum tickets entirely, so its real cost is €195 plus admission to three sites. The other includes tickets and offers eight languages. Book private for the language or the pace, and read the inclusions line before assuming entry is in the price.
Who These Tours Are Wrong For
Three cases where a specific listing, or the site itself, genuinely does not fit.
You May Have to Fetch the Ticket Across Town
The most damaging pattern in these reviews. On some ticket listings the email contains a voucher, not a ticket, and the exchange desk is not at Palazzo Pitti. Guests describe recrossing the Ponte Vecchio to find an office, walking back uphill in 30 degree heat, missing the time slot and paying again at the gate. If your day is timed around anything else, buy direct or book a guided tour that meets you at the door.
Boboli Is a Climb With No Lift
The gardens rise in terraces behind the palace and the views are at the top, on gravel paths and steps. There is a lift inside the palace but none on the grounds. One guest also described the surface as uneven and not really suitable for anyone unsteady or using a wheelchair. The Palatine Gallery on its own is a perfectly good visit if hills are a problem.
Boboli Is a Building Site Until 2030
If the gardens are the reason you are going rather than a bonus after the palace, know what you are walking into. The gallery's own Boboli 2030 programme runs eight years across the Amphitheatre, the Camellia Garden, the basins and 300-plus statues. Guests through 2026 describe tarpaulins, fencing, closed lawns and rerouted paths at full price, and one noted that beyond the view over Florence there was little left to see. Checked October 6, 2026.
The App Products Fail the Same Way Every Time
On the audio-guide ticket, guests repeatedly could not download the app, found no usable signal on the grounds, or got commentary that did not match the room they were standing in. One was refused entry because the ticket itself would not load. If you book it, install and download everything on hotel wifi first.
How Much Does a Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens Tour Cost?
From €25 to €232.50 per person. The benchmark is the gallery's own combined ticket at €22 on the day or €25 in advance, and the useful question on every listing is what sits on top of it.
The Baseline
Both sites, booked direct. Palace alone is €16 or €19, gardens alone €10 or €13. Under-18s enter free and EU citizens aged 18 to 25 pay a reduced rate, which makes a family bundle worth checking twice before you buy one.
Where Two Listings Lose the Argument
The €39 eBook covers the whole complex and is defensible. The €33 palace-only and €25 gardens-only listings cost more than the combined gate ticket for half the access, and both publish the fee in their own inclusions.
€47 to €73 for a Licensed Guide
Two to three hours of guiding over the ticket price on the group tours. The private options run €195 and €232.50, and one of those excludes admission entirely, so read the inclusions before comparing them to the rest.
Our read: take the €98 guided tour if the Palatine Gallery is the point, the €72 weekend tour if the date works, and buy direct at €22 if you only want to walk the gardens and look at the view.
Our Take
Of the eight pages we have now built on Florence attractions, this is the one where the booking platform adds the least and risks the most. Two listings charge more than the gate for half the site, the most-reviewed ticket holds the lowest rating on the page, and the recurring one-star story is not a bad guide but a voucher that had to be collected across town. Buy direct, or buy a guide. The middle ground is where the complaints live.
Tips for Visiting Pitti Palace and the Boboli Gardens
- Know the gate price before you compare anything. €22 for the palace and gardens together on the day, €25 in advance. Two listings here charge more than that for one of the two sites.
- Check whether you are buying a ticket or a voucher. This is the difference between walking in and walking across the river. If the listing mentions collecting, exchanging or meeting a representative, find out exactly where before you book.
- Check the Boboli renovation on the gallery's own site. Works ran through 2026 with no price reduction and no mention on any listing we read.
- Treat the gardens as a hill walk. Terraces, gravel and steps, with a lift in the palace but none outside. The views are at the top.
- Confirm which galleries your ticket covers. The complex holds six, and the listings differ: one covers all of them, another covers the palace only, a third adds a 24-hour return.
- Download any audio app before you arrive. The signal on the grounds is unreliable and the single most common ticket complaint here starts with a download that would not finish.
- Mind the two different Mondays. Palazzo Pitti closes every Monday; the Boboli Gardens close only the first and last Monday of the month. On most Mondays the gardens are open and the palace is not.
- Check the winter closing time. Boboli shuts at 4:30pm from November to February, with last admission an hour before, so a winter afternoon in the gardens is shorter than it looks.
- Look up current room closures before you pay for a guide. As of October 6, 2026 the Room of the Iliad is closed to 25 October 2026 and the Palatine Gallery's Music Room is closed. The Palatine is the room you are paying a guide for, so it is worth two minutes on the gallery's site.
- Take a guide for the Palatine Gallery specifically. It is hung in the original Medici arrangement, not by date or school, and barely labelled. Guests consistently say it is the room where a guide changed the visit.
- Check child and EU-youth pricing before buying a bundle. Under-18s enter free and EU citizens aged 18 to 25 pay a reduced rate, so a family may do better buying direct than booking a per-person package.
- Plan to stay after a guided tour ends. Tours finish inside and your ticket stays valid, so the Modern Art gallery and the costume museum cost nothing extra.
- Visiting in August? Our Florence in August guide is worth reading before a summer visit: Boboli is an exposed hillside with very little shade, and at 30°C it is worth the opening slot or nothing.
- Visiting in February? Our Florence in February guide covers winter visiting: the palace is excellent and empty, though Boboli only starts waking up late in the month.
How We Selected These Tours
We pulled every bookable Palazzo Pitti and Boboli Gardens tour from the booking platform's catalogue, then shortlisted on rating, review volume, review recency and fit to a tour of the palace and gardens rather than a city-wide pass. Review recency did more work here than on any Florence page we have built. Three listings were excluded because no guest had reviewed them in more than six months, including the highest-rated product of the entire set at 4.96, which has had no review in seventeen months. Two of the eight we kept are flagged in the table as thin, with two reviews apiece in the past year, and we have said so on the page rather than letting a 5.00 stand unqualified. We kept them because without them the page would carry no private option at all. Every factual field in the table came from the partner API on October 6, 2026: price, rating, review count, duration, booking limit, languages, start times, inclusions and exclusions. The two agency fees quoted on this page are taken from the operators' own published inclusions, not calculated by us. Official ticket prices, opening hours, closing days and the current room and garden closures come from the Gallerie degli Uffizi's own pages, checked on October 6, 2026. That check corrected two figures we had taken from an operator listing: Palazzo Pitti closes at 6:30pm rather than 6:00pm, and the Boboli Gardens close at 4:30pm in winter rather than 3:30pm. The Boboli 2030 restoration programme is described by the gallery itself rather than inferred from reviews. We then read 226 guest reviews across the eight listings, which is where the voucher-collection problem, the 2026 garden works, the audio-app failures and the mobility notes come from. We have not taken these tours ourselves.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens tour cost?+
From €25 to €232.50 per person. Guided tours run €72 to €98 in a group and €195 to €232.50 private, while ticket products run €25 to €39. The benchmark is the gallery's own combined ticket: €22 for both sites bought on the day, or €25 in advance. Two listings on this page charge more than that for only one of the two sites.
Is a guided tour of Pitti Palace worth it?+
For the Palatine Gallery, more than at most Florence museums. The paintings there hang in the original Medici arrangement, frame to frame and floor to ceiling, grouped by how they looked on the wall rather than by artist or date, with very little labelling. Guests repeatedly say they would have walked past most of the significance alone. At €72 to €98 including entry, the guiding costs roughly €47 to €73.
Can you buy a combined Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens ticket?+
Yes, and it is the cheapest way in. The Gallerie degli Uffizi sells a combined Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens ticket for €22 on the day of entry or €25 bought in advance. Separately the palace is €16 or €19 and the gardens €10 or €13. Under-18s of any nationality enter free and EU citizens aged 18 to 25 pay a reduced rate.
Are the Boboli Gardens worth visiting in 2026?+
Partly, and go in knowing what is fenced off. The gallery runs an eight-year restoration programme called Boboli 2030 across the 33-hectare gardens, taking in the Amphitheatre, the Camellia Garden, the Neptune and Island basins and more than 300 statues, so some part of the grounds will be behind hoardings on any visit between now and 2030. Guests through 2026 describe tarpaulins, fencing, closed lawns and rerouted paths at full price. The view over Florence from the top is undiminished, and Palazzo Pitti itself is unaffected. As of October 6, 2026 the Porcelain Museum in the gardens is closed until further notice.
How long do you need at Pitti Palace and the Boboli Gardens?+
Two to four hours for both. Guided tours run two to three hours and ticket products suggest two to five. The gardens alone take about ninety minutes if you walk them properly, and they rise steeply in terraces behind the palace, so allow more time than the distance suggests.
Is Palazzo Pitti open on Mondays?+
No. Palazzo Pitti opens Tuesday to Sunday from 8:15am to 6:30pm and closes on Mondays, 1 January and 25 December. The gardens are different: the Boboli Gardens open daily and close only on the first and last Monday of each month, so on most Mondays you can walk the gardens but not the palace. Boboli closes at 4:30pm from November to February and as late as 7:10pm in midsummer, with last admission an hour before. Hours checked October 6, 2026.
Are the Boboli Gardens accessible for limited mobility?+
Only partly. The gardens climb the hill behind the palace in terraces, on gravel paths and steps, and the best views are at the top. There is a lift inside Palazzo Pitti but none on the grounds, and one guest described the surface as uneven and not really suitable for anyone unsteady or using a wheelchair. The Palatine Gallery on its own makes a good visit if hills are a problem.
What is included in a Pitti Palace ticket?+
It depends on the listing, and this is worth checking. The complex contains the Palatine Gallery, the Royal Apartments, the Gallery of Modern Art, the Treasury of the Grand Dukes, the Museum of Costume and Fashion and the Boboli Gardens. One ticket on this page covers all six, one covers the palace only, one covers the gardens only, and one guided tour adds a ticket valid for 24 hours so you can return for the rest.
